Il a participé à la rédaction de l'ouvrage collectif La bibliothèque nomédienne, qui paraît dans le cadre de la rentrée littéraire 2008.

Alfred Boudry - Magician In the spring of 2006 I decided to join a writers' group in the Book in a bar bookshop in Montpellier. The group had been meeting then for several months. I sat drinking tea with these strangers; 2 Frenchwomen, an American ans an Australian. Their pens were ready. Then we got a message - Alfred, the animateur, cannot come today. They began to leave. As a veteran of many writers' groups I was surprised and a little dismayed - "But," I protested, "if we are writers, surely we can do an exercise without a leader..." "You don't understand," said Edwin, the Australian, "Alfred is very special, the things he does are special, it is really not possible to do anything without him." "But you are all experienced writers," I went on. But they were insistent; we should all go home. A month later Alfred did turn up and I began to understand. There was nothing extraordinary about the exercises he set but he did have a magical way of pushing us into places we'd never been before, and some of us were writing in French and some in English and none of us was fluent in whichever was the second language. Alfred is a character from a Paul Auster novel with his designer fountain pen and designer notebooks filled with his perfect,microscopic, calligraphy, and one feels that it's inside those pages that his real life has its own, very private, existence. For the rentree of 2006 Alfred announced we were going on a voyage together. he presented us with a dossier; the story of explorer, La Perrouse who had 300 years ago discovered a new continent and then misplaced it. Alfred christened it Nomedia and we were to be his crew and passengers embarking upon an attempt at rediscovering the place. he piled up our tyasks: we were to write stories about finding a land which was not Nomedia, about the culture and peoples of Nomedia, about its history and why it had remained undetected for so long. Predicatably we lost people overboard, those who lost faith in the project, leaving just 7 of us; 4 members of the 'concrete' workshop who met regularly in the flesh, and 3 'cyber' contributors. We read our stuff in the group but there was no systematic attempt to mesh it all together into a coherent, literary shape. It just grew and grew. For me, and for the others, there was never any realistic prospect of publication; it was merely a tremendously enjoyable and stimulating process. So we didn't rewrite or polish, we simply allowed wild ideas and experiment to carry us forward. Then Alfred said he was negotiating with a publisher. I was sceptical. Suddenly we were discussing rights and fees and god what? Long experience of dealing with English publishers made me pessimistic. As Joyce said, "Great care should be used in dealing with publishers, quadrupeds and tropical swamps..." We gave Alfred carte blanche, he was moving in mysterious ways, almost furtively, so what? He'd done all the translations and all the graft. We all knew individually that our work was good, but as a complete whole??????????But it worked and now La Biblitheque Nomedienne will be on the shelves in a few days. I'm writing this in Liverpool having been blown away by La Princesse, the Spider from La machine. And La Machine is from Nantes just like the Bibliotheque Nomedienne.
